Blog #5

Mel-CON your answer to the following question for Media Studies I.  Provide at least two different reasons to support your position; blog due Thursday, April 2, 2015.

Blog#5---The Milwaukee Bucks are vying to build a new arena for the team at a cost of around 600 million dollars. The new owners have put up 100 million and former owner Herb Kohl put up another 100 million for a total of 200 m.  The new owners would like the taxpayers to help finance the rest of the stadium cost or the team will possibly be moved to antoehr city.  Should the taxpapers of the 5-county area--Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee and Racine counties have to help pay for a new arena?

Blog #5

Mel-CON paragraph is at work here with a topic sentence which states your opinion. Per usual, make sure to validate your position with at least two reasons to back-up your belief.

Please complete by Wednesday, Dec. 10 at midnight.

The media has been inundated with stories about groups of people protesting police brutality and targeting in cities like Milwaukee, Los Angeles, New York and Ferguson, Missouri.  The coverage, at times, has been live, and the protesters are certainly getting television coverage so the world can see their opposing views and towards how African-Americans are being treated by the police forces in certain towns and cities.  Is all the coverage warranted and should the media continue to cover these stories of both non-violent and violent acts of protesting?

Blog #4

Per usual, use the Mel-COn paragraph to support your position on one of the following two questions. Make sure to take a position and then support your evidence with at least two reasons to support your opinion.  In your conclusion, you should wrap up your main ideas.  Blog is due Friday, May 30, 2014

Donald Sterling, the owner of the NBA Los Angeles Clippers, was recently banned from basketball games and possible ownership of his team for racial remarks he made about african americans, including staying away from two specific people.  In the taped conversation, he short, told his mistress/girl friend that he doesn't want her to be seen in public with balck people.  He has since apologized for his remarks but the NBA commissioner is considering banning him for life from games and taking away his ownership, thus forcing him to sell the team.  Do you feel the punishment fits the crime or is he entitled to his opinion, thus exercising "freedom of speech"?

Second question will be seniors and walking through graduation even though you don't have the credits but are going to summer school to complete. Research pending....

Blog #3

Please use the Mel-CON paragraph structure as you formulate your answer. This includes opening statement/position, two reasons to support your position and a concluding remark, thus wrapping up your position on the following question.   Blog Due Friday, April 11 by midnight.

Question:  The state of Colorado has recently legalized (Jan. 1, 2014) the sale of marijuana to people 21 years of age and older. They are first state to do so since the Marijauna Act of 1937 made the sale of marijuana illegal in the United States. There are split views from the public.  Do you think Colorado made the right choice to legalize marijuana for recreational use or will this create more problems in the future?

OR

Many districts in the state are going to block scheduling, which included classes for roughly 80-90 minutes but you only have four classes per day.  With the current schedule, Menomonee Falls High School has eight classes at 46 minutes each.  Which schedule would you prefer, block or regular scheduling?
